Calling All Homeschoolers! Homeschool Help, Finding a Partner in Education
According to the Washington Post, "approximately 1.8 million U.S. children were home-schooled in 2012." That's twice the number of children homeschooled in 1999. A study by the National Center for Education Statistics reports that 91% of parents cite worries about their school's environment as their reason for homeschooling.
If you are a homeschooling family, you understand the benefits of this lifestyle: flexibility, opportunities for self-study in areas of interest, cultivating creativity and free thought. However, you may have run into a problem. You want to keep homeschooling, but your growing children have specific education needs that you can no longer meet.
What do you do? Where do you get homeschool help, and find a partner in education? As a leader in alternative education, we at Halstrom Academy want to support you and be an extension to your homeschooling efforts. Here are a couple of ways we can.
Seminar Courses: Help with Extracurriculars and Socialization
Teaching extracurriculars, such as foreign languages and the arts, often presents a problem for homeschooling families. Halstrom has a solution.
At Halstrom, students can enroll in foreign language classes. We also host a variety of seminars designed to expose students to topics in studio art, music, graphic design, computer arts, and more. These seminars help students expand their horizons and better define their personal areas of interest, benefiting them as they prepare for college and beyond.
We know that the opportunity to interact more with peers is at the top of many homeschool wish lists. In addition to exposing your student to new ideas and fields of study, our on-campus community and seminars also provide your homeschool students with opportunities to engage with young people their age.
